This Cathy, Roldan and I along with interns Evan and Arielle, standing with a group of tribal Matigsalug who were selling tikos, a sort of bracelet or under-the-knee decoration (is there a word for that?) made from dried ferns. They weren't begging, but selling a unique craft that I've only seen made by this one people group, at a resort we spent a short retreat at high in the mountains. We ended up buying a decent amount of them, as they're fairly nice. I also tried a few Matigsalug phrases out, which they found amusing, if not quite intelligible due to my accent. We don't get that many chances to visit tribal areas but it's always nice when we do.
